LeatherGlos Leather Cleaning Tips
Before you begin applying LeatherGlos to your favorite leather and vinyl articles, it's important that you follow these simple steps to achieve the best results.
1 ) Wipe the surface thoroughly to remove any dust, dirt and other contaminates. Remove shoe laces if applicable. Please note that LeatherGlos is not a leather cleaner but a surface coating. ( We do offer a cleaner here with LeatherKleanz ) Therefore, before applying LeatherGlos, your leather should be wiped thoroughly to remove any debris, oils or other contaminants that might get between the leather and the coating. Take a dry soft or micro-fiber cloth and wipe the surface. To remove dirt or grease and oil stains, a damp cloth with a household detergent will do the trick job. Make sure to clean between crevices where dirt generally builds up and can get trapped under the LeatherGlos coating.
There are also homemade remedies such as equal parts water mixed with equal parts white vinegar to wipe leather clean. Leather spray cleansers, wipes and soaps are also available on the market and may be used to wipe your leather clean. However, please use at your discretion. It is recommended that you FIRST test out new products or remedies LeatherGlos on a small, inconspicuous area before applying throughout the surface to make sure the surface Avoid products that contain ammonia, which dries out leather; as well as rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and acetone, which can remove the coloring on your leather products.
Wipe off excess and run-off immediately with a damp rag or sponge. The dry film can also be removed using IPA. LeatherGlos is available in multiple finishes specific to the application. It maybe used on all leathers and vinyl materials encountered in shoes, handbags, briefcases, garments, gloves and automobile upholstery. Always coat on a discreet area before coating an entire object.
